Strategic framework

Strategy 2030

At the Australian Refugee Association (ARA), Strategy 2030 sets our long‑term direction and the change we’re working to achieve with and for our communities.

The Strategic Framework is the one‑page, public expression of that strategy: a clear statement of our purpose, the outcomes we’re driving toward, and how our work fits together.

It sits alongside our internal Strategic Plan, which turns this direction into day‑to‑day action and performance monitoring. Together, they ensure we stay true to our vision Courageous people reaching their full potential and our mission Empowering communities, families and individuals to thrive in Australia through supports that promote participation and inclusion, guided by our values ofCare, Courage and Community.

The Framework focuses our efforts across three strategic domains:

• Impactful Services
• Organisational Growth & Resilience
• Trusted Voice and Influence.

Each domain is anchored by aspirational “end states” that describe what success looks like in practice—helping our teams, partners, and supporters see how today’s initiatives contribute to long‑term impact. As we work toward 2030, we will continue to align programs to these outcomes and share progress transparently, strengthening a resilient organisation that delivers visible impact and a trusted voice for the communities we serve.

We Care — We put the people we support first, actively listening and seeking to understand. We treat everyone with respect and consider the impact that our words and actions may have.

We Show Courage — We are responsive and take initiative to address challenges, seek new opportunities, and deal positively with change and uncertainty. We aim to improve learning from successes and failures using data and evidence to guide our decisions, remaining curious and optimistic.
