employment

Having a job is important because it gives you financial stability and a sense of belonging in your new community.

ARA provides workshops, individual sessions and job search advice that can lead you to find employment. ARA can also help with writing job application letters, considering training options and securing volunteering and work experience opportunities. If you don’t yet drive a car, we offer a learner’s driver’s license preparation course.

We want to see you succeed and thrive as a confident contributor in Australia’s workforce.

Inclusive Employability Program

Do you have valuable skills and experience that would enrich Australia’s workforce?

New arrivals are often highly motivated to work, but finding suitable employment is often not easy. Please be assured, ARA is here to help.

We listen to the goals of jobseekers, identifying your strengths and any barriers that might be stopping you from getting work. Together, we address these challenges in a respectful way that honours your experience and cultural beliefs.

Other practical ways we can help with your work search include:

  • Creating or updating a resume or cover letter,
  • Showing you where to search for jobs, apprenticeships or traineeships,
  • Setting up volunteer or work experience opportunities,
  • Encouraging positive relationships with your Employment Services Provider,
  • Preparing and practicing for job interviews,
  • Finding ways to overcome other barriers to employment.

Learners to Employment

ARA’s Learner’s to Employment program recognises the value of having a driver’s licence in finding and keeping a job.

We offer regular courses in learner driver theory tuition for both adults and teenagers (aged 16+). Our courses are carefully tailored to teach participants what they need to know to successfully sit their learner’s test.
