Thank you for helping Hala build a stronger future

Thank you for helping Hala build a stronger future

Your generosity did more than help Hala* through a crisis. You gave her family the chance to build a new, better life here in Australia.

Hala fled the war in Gaza with her three children. She arrived in Australia having left the fear of war behind, only to find a new fear. Separated from her husband and raising her children alone, she was struggling to keep a roof over their heads while worrying about how she would pay the bills and put food on the table.

Today, thanks to your generosity, Hala is not facing those challenges alone.

Because you cared, Hala is beginning to rebuild her life. When household expenses became overwhelming, your support helped provide food and rent assistance. Your kindness also helped connect Hala with a financial counsellor, helping her work towards greater stability for the future.

Your compassion has ensured Hala has ongoing support from her ARA Case Worker to help her navigate the many challenges of settling into a new life, accompanying her to appointments and helping her access essential services, making sure she gets the support her family needs.

Because of your kindness, Hala’s children are beginning to experience the stability every child deserves. They are making positive progress at school and adjusting to life in Australia – an important milestone in their journey.

Hala has recently enrolled in English classes, knowing that improving her language skills is an important step towards future employment. Despite the many challenges she continues to face, she has never lost sight of her goal of creating a better life for her children.

Thank you for helping refugees like Hala break down the barriers that turn starting over into a struggle!

Because of you, her family has a future.

But you have the power to keep changing lives.

Safaa and Her Son’s Journey After Escaping War

Safaa fled Afghanistan three years ago in search of safety for herself and her young son. She came to Australia hoping they could leave fear behind and build a new life in Australia.

But rebuilding has not been easy.

After the break down of her marriage, Safaa now raises her son alone. Unable to secure a job and facing financial hardship, she is struggling to put food on the table and have a stable home for her son.

Now, she faces another fear. Safaa has been told she has just eight weeks to leave their home.

“When I think about our lease ending, I feel scared.
I don’t know how I will find another home for me and my son.”

For Safaa, finding a home is about more than having a roof over her head. It is about giving her son stability and the chance to settle into school and feel like he belongs.

Your kindness can help.
