Our mission is to help refugees become settled and participating citizens of Australia. Our vision is an Australia where refugees are an integral part of a thriving, prosperous community.
ARA has developed a series of cultural competency workshops to ensure organisations and their employees are skilled when working with people from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background.
Specialised sessions which target a specific community/ethnic group and aim to gain greater understanding their traditions, customs and religions. Such groups include, but are not limited to:
– South Sudanese
Addresses the experiences of people from refugee backgrounds prior to coming to Australia and how this impacts upon their settlement.
This training is recommended for those working with students from refugee backgrounds and is appropriate for those working in schools and other educational settings, at primary, secondary and post compulsory levels.
Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect – A mandatory certificate for anyone working with children and young people, including volunteers.
A representative from ARA can come to your school, community group or workplace in order to give a brief overview of our services or any of the above topics.
