Social Support Program

This program utilises a network of trained volunteers who support people of refugee background with the process of their settlement. Volunteers regularly visit individuals\families to offer friendship, guidance and practical assistance.

Some of the key ways that volunteers can assist include:
– practising conversational English
– assisting with orientation and connection to the local community
– explaining unfamiliar ‘systems’ and social norms
– providing information about support services available

These services are supported through funding by the Department of Social Services
